Sunday Feb 14th 2010 Vicki peacefully passed away at home with her husband Gerry by her side. Vicki fought as hard as she could for 7 months. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She was so strong and positive through all her treatment and greatly appreciated all of your support and prayers. As we all know Vicki was a huge animal lover and at her request in lieu of flowers would like all donations to go to the SPCA www.aspca.org go to memorial giving and give in her name, Vicki Wells. The memorial service will be held at Turrentine Jackson and Morrow Ridgeview Memorial Park in McKinney on Thurs. Feb 18th at 4:00 pm. Hwy 75 exit 38 Ridgeview Dr. Their number is 972-562-2601

Sorry for the long delay but we have not posted anything new because Vicki continues to be doing great! She is still working full time and feeling fantastic. She did have a blood transfusion about 2 weeks ago because her blood count was getting low from all the Chemo she had been receiving. Vicki finished the last round of Chemo this past Friday and will be starting the next round this Friday and then going once a week for 2 weeks and then she will have 2 weeks off. She will continue with 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for the time being.

Vicki is back!!!!!!!

We are very happy to report Vicki came back to work last week. She is down to 1 Chemo treatment a week and is feeling great. She has so much energy she RAN to the mailbox today!! Go Vicki!

She is very appreciative of everyone's well wishes and support. Please continue with your prayers since she still have a ways to go with treatment.

We will keep you updated. Sorry its been so long since the last posting, but there was not much to report since she was going through such a rigorous schedule of chemo and radiation.

Vicki went home Thursday evening from the hospital and is resting comfortably. She had an MRI done yesterday to see how everything is progressing and will get the results tomorrow. She will also be starting the next phase of Chemo tomorrow. She contiues to be in very high spirits! We will keep you updated

Vicki had surgery to remove her gall bladder and drainage tube yesterday morning. She made it through the surgery and is resting in the hospital where she will remain for the time being. Unfortunately the procedure did not go as planned. After entering Vicki's abdomen, the surgeon discovered that the pancreatic tumor had grown to the point that is was impossible to remove the gall bladder with out causing massive bleeding. He made several attempts from a couple different angles without success. Rather than risk causing bleeding and further damage, the doctor decided to abort the procedure. The good news is the tumor has become vascular which means that it may respond better to the GEMZAR Chemo that she is scheduled to start next week. This war is not over and no one is surrendering!!!

Please, Please continue with prayer and well wishes for Vicki's recovery.

Vicki had her Gall Bladdar taken out this morning. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers while she heals!!! We will keep you updated on how she is feeling.

Vicki met with some of her doctors yesterday and discussed treatment. She will be having her gall bladder removed on Tuesday Sept. 8th and will be having the nerve block in her back on Thursday Sept. 17th. These will both help to eliminate alot of the pain she has been experiencing. She is meeting with her Oncologist today to see when the MRI will be scheduled to check the progress she has been making. She is also going to be discussing the next round of Chemo treatment. She is done for now with Radiation!! While she is going through these surgeries she will not be receiving any Chemo. We will update you on her appointment with her Oncologist one we hear anything.

Vicki started back with Chemo this week and is having a pretty good week!! She is still taking the pain meds but less frequently. She has 4 doctor appointments today. All her doctors are meeting with her and Gerry to see how everything is progressing and are hoping to be able to stop with radiation by the end of the week. They may possibly start with another round of stronger Chemo but we are not sure at this time. Keep her and the doctors in your prayers today and keep up with the great support!!!!

Well Vicki has a pretty rough week last week. She did have the week off from Chemo but the pain was pretty bad. She was very week and tired. She had to get some IV fluids a few days to help keep her hydrated. She did start back with Chemo on Monday and is feeling much better this week. She will continue to receive the fluids to help with hydration. She still has 3 more weeks of treatment and is very grateful for all the cards and well wishes she has been receiving. She is very touched by all the people who have reached out to her. We will continue to keep you updated on Vicki's progress.

Vicki has been given this week Aug 17th-21st off from Chemo. She has been fighting hard and the doctors have given her the week off to let her body recover and rest. However she will still be receiving the radiation treatments everyday.Vicki is still feeling tired and weak but is hoping with the week off from Chemo she will be able to make it up to the office for a few hours. We are very excited to hopefully see her back at work! Not to much to report but continue to keep her in you thoughts and prayers.

Vicki has had a great week with 9 treatments under her belt. She continues to gain momentum with the help of modern medicine and the Grace of God. In addition to the chemo and radiation treatments, Vicki met with a general surgeon and pain manager this past week with positive results. After this cycle of oncology treatments she will revisit with her doctor and see if she needs to have her gallbladder removed. This will most likely be the case. Gerry continues to reduce her pain meds as her pain management doctor is pleased with how she is tolerating everything. Although Vicki is coping well the meds are still needed!
At the end of this oncology cycle they will re-assess possibly doing another nerve block if needed. Your prayers and positive energy continue to transport Vicki along the path to healing. You are helping her make great progress so please keep the prayers coming.

Just a quick update! Vicki stopped by the office yesterday for a quick visit. She looks amazing and is in high spirits. She stopped by at a good time because we needed her help on some things!!! We are doing the best we can up here but miss our "Vickster" and want her back!! She is doing great with her treatment but is still pretty tired. She is resting up and ready to fight every day. We love and miss you!! Stop by again we love seeing your smiling face :)

Vicki had her second round of Chemo and Radiation on Friday and as of this afternoon is beginning to feel a little fatigued. She is resting more now but seems to be adjusting quite well. Since Friday the horrible pain Vicki has been experiencing has subsided a little bit! This is a wonderful thing. They were able to reduce the amount and frequency of the pain medicine. This is a tremendous progress and hope this continues as it is a sure sign that healing is taking place. This is surely a direct result of all the prayers and well wished from friends and family!! Keep them coming!

Vicki's Mom, sisters, and brother in law left today back to Spokane. Their presence was the perfect medicine and noticeably boosted Vicki's spirits. They helped out tremendously around the house fixing meals and tending to chores. Both Gerry and Vicki greatly enjoyed their visit.

Vicki starts her third round of treatment tomorrow so keep the thoughts and prayers coming!! They are definitely working!!! Thank you everyone for your wonderful posts! Vicki and Gerry have been reading them and Vicki said they are an insperation and motivating!

Very happy to report that Vicki's treatment went great today!!! She is a little tired but feels much better about what to expect while receiving Chemo and Radiation. She is at home resting and ready to go back on the attack tomorrow! We will prevail!!

We have created this site for all of the people who are thinking and praying for Our Vicki to visit and get updates. This is a very hard time for us. Vicki is such an important person in our lives and we know she has touched so many people. We will be posting frequent updates on how Vicki is doing so please feel free to post any comments and we will be sure to get them to her.

Vicki had been having severe back pain for a few weeks and receiving physical therapy. She thought she had pulled a muscle in her back while gardening in her yard. The first night we were in Honduras she was in excruciating pain. The pain did subside over the next day or so. Due to the military coup in Honduras we came home early for our safety. The night we got home the pain in Vicki's back had worsened. Gerry took her to the hospital late that night. After testing they found the levels in her liver were abnormal. With even further testing they discovered a 3mm tumor on her Pancreas and a smaller one on her liver. Yesterday July 29th Vicki was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This obviously came as a shock to us!

Vicki is starting her first round of Radiation and Chemo today July 30th. She is nervous but ready to get this treatment going! She is very positive and upbeat. Her 2 sisters, brother in law, and her mom are visiting. Vicki's husband Gerry is with her every step and is very supportive and loving. She will be receiving Radiation and Chemo 5 days a week for the next 5 weeks to help shrink the tumors. Once the tumors shrink she will be a candidate for the Whipple surgery.
